Topic six: ‘Purge’

Inspired by a recent bout of sickness, I created this monstrosity. The piece is about how a person can become inhuman through a pursuit of beauty.
The creature is male, but is androgynous in the sense that he swathes himself in music and burlesque feathers. The clock in his face represents ageing. The pauldrons, one armoured, one feathered are indicative of a transformation. Half the body in darkness, lurching toward to the light. Clawing at future that is always two steps ahead.
